Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) under the Linda Mwananchi has renewed voter mobilisation as they rebuild their  political momentum ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Siaya Governor James Orengo set the tone at the Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa, with a clear message: “the battle for 2027 will not be won during the campaign season, but through sustained groundwork.”

“Winning an election in 2027 starts now. I want you to prepare yourselves – be ready, be registered,” Orengo told the crowd, repeatedly asking attendees to confirm they had voter cards.

Orengo went further to frame the next election as a high-stakes contest over electoral integrity and political direction.

“This time around in 2027, there will be no stealing of votes. We will show up everywhere – Mombasa, Nakuru, Nairobi, Kisumu, Turkana – to ensure the will of the people is respected,” he said.

Taping into a long-standing opposition narrative around electoral justice, orengo also challenged ODM supporters to be ready to guard the votes.

ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna complemented this strategy by directly confronting claims that the opposition lacks sufficient numbers.

“They tell us we have no votes. If you have a vote, raise your hand,” he said, prompting a sea of raised hands from the crowd.

This public display of support was not merely symbolic; it was a deliberate attempt to project strength, rebuild confidence within the party’s base, and counter the perception of a fragmented opposition.

Sifuna also signaled a shift in ODM’s mobilisation tactics through the introduction of a digital registration initiative linked to the Linda Mwananchi movement.

“We want you to go online and register so we know how many we are. There is a number we are waiting to reach, and once we get there, we will announce our next steps,” he said.

This move toward data-driven organising suggests ODM is seeking to modernise its campaign infrastructure by quantifying support and improving coordination—an approach that could prove critical in a tightly contested election.

Politically, the choice of Mombasa as the launchpad for this mobilisation underscores the party’s intent to consolidate its traditional strongholds while preparing to expand into key battleground regions.

Ultimately, the Linda Mwananchi initiative reflects a broader recalibration within ODM: from reactive opposition politics to a more structured, proactive campaign strategy.

By combining early voter engagement, strong messaging on electoral integrity, and emerging digital tools, the party appears to be laying the groundwork for a more disciplined and competitive run in 2027.
