Bomet Aps were crowned champions of the first edition of Rowlands insurance Agency Football Tournament after an electrifying performance that saw them take home the grand prize of Ksh 200,000.
Kamungei FC emerged as the runners-up, pocketing Ksh 100,000, while Curtain Raisers, Bomet legends and Bomet Youth secured third place with a reward of Ksh 50,000.
The tournament, held over the Easter weekend at Bomet Green stadium, brought together youth teams from across the county in a spirited show of talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Henry Koech, coach of Kamungei FC, lauded the tournament for its fairness and organization despite his team falling short in the final.
"The game was fair. We gave our best, and although it didn't favour us in the end, we are proud of the boys," he remarked.
The event was spearheaded by Jesca Nyigei, the tournament's sponsor, who emphasized the importance of engaging youth during school holidays.
"I saw it as important to engage the youth during the Easter Holiday to keep them busy and away from negative influences,My support may seem small, but I believe it will go a long way in shaping their future.”said Nyigei.
Aps CEO Rose Chemutai echoed Nyigei’s sentiments and highlighted the role of youth teams in building a strong football foundation.
"We appreciate Jesca for donating her resources to this cause. Her sacrifice will go a long way,We are required by the federation to have youth teams. So, we called upon the youth to join us because once we get into the Kenya Premier League (KPL), we need to have all the proper structures, including ladies’ teams."Chemutai Stated.
Bomet Football Federation Chairperson David Siele thanked the sponsor for her commitment and revealed ambitious plans to expand the region's football programs.
"As a federation, we plan to register 10 teams for ward leagues across Bomet by August,"We are calling on more willing sponsors to join hands with us in promoting local talents."said Siele.
The success of Rowlands insurance Company Tournament has energized the local football scene, providing a platform for young players to shine and inspiring a vision for a vibrant football future in Bomet County.
